Created by: Mr Bethuel Malebe and R learners from Nageng Primary School.
The name of our creation is Nageng I-robot. The name is inspired by the Forth Industrial Revolution because learners are fascinated by the world of robotics which is one of the Gauteng Department of Education’s visions for 2030.
Nageng Primary School is one of the schools which advocates for a sustainable environment. We are always at the forefront with regards to preserving, conserving, and restoring the dignity of the environment.

Steps:
- We drafted the sketch of what we would like to make.
- We used scissors to cut out an oval shape on the 2 milk cartoons (empty and thoroughly cleaned) as they are the feet of the robot.
- We assembled the 2 yoghurt containers (empty and thoroughly cleaned) as the bottom part of the legs.
- We assembled the 750ml and 500ml bottles as thighs for the robot.
- We used the 5l bottle as the body of the robot and glued it together with the legs.
- We used the lid of the yoghurt container as the arms. We used glue to stick them together.
- We used the 750ml milk cartoon as the head, we also glued the bottle lids as the eyes, nose and mouth of the robot.
- We used the 1.5l bottle as the neck of the robot to balance the head and the body
All materials that were cut off are all used; nothing was thrown away.
The Nageng I-robot serves to remind the learners about basic hygiene principles especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Primary school learners are fascinated by the world of cartoons and robotics – they always want to see themselves next to the Nageng I-robot and this helps them comply with the COVID-19 regulations. They are encouraged to wash their hands regularly and thoroughly.
