What Teachers are Saying
“I, Meena Singh, an educator at Olympia Primary have been a member of Pick n Pay School Club since its inception. To date one of the striking features is the way it has evolved over the years, keeping up to date on the school curriculum and the needs and wants of educators and learners. The resource material provided each year is of an exceptional standard and suggestions given are most often accommodated.
This is one programme that is very interactive with well trained consultants who go the extra mile to assist educators. Please can we ask for learner workshops to be incorporated into the programme?”
“As a Pick n Pay School Club coordinator I have found the resources and information extremely valuable to both educators and learners. The competitions and extravagant prizes boost the moral for learners and educators alike.
In my opinion, Pick n Pay School Club is the only platform that allows learners an opportunity to strive for excellence. They come on board to assist educators and, with the Pick n Pay brand, Clayridge Primary is placed on the map. The Pick n Pay Hero Awards is a programme that I am extremely fond of as it appeals to the heart and soul of a child and not merely on academic performance.
Please continue doing the excellent work you do. Shannon Naidoo indeed keeps us abreast with focus workshops resources and not forgetting the exciting competitions.
Well done to the Pick n Pay School Club team!”
“I get emotional when I think about what Pick n Pay School Club has done for our school over the years. We value their material, which we receive yearly, that goes a long way in helping our teaching and making the learning process fun.
Having won Hero Awards for 3 years running is a milestone achievements and it is a reflection of excellence. I’m very happy to end each and every year with a celebration, excitement and tears of joy. I am proud of the learners that I mentor, teach and co-work with. Some are in high school but I keep a close eye on them and engage with them as they will always be part of my team. I love them so much.
Thanks a lot to Pick n Pay School Club for acknowledging the young heroes who have a positive impact on fellow learners, their school and the community. This award inspires learners to drive change not only in their personal lives but in others as well.
If it was not for the one and only man who is always there for us in sharing his expertise, mentoring skills and always having faith in us! I refer him as our guardian Angel because he is always there for us in all projects that Pick n Pay School Club initiates. All credits goes to Mr Lulama Qwenqa for his passion, faith, integrity… for the benefit of an African child!”

Caradale Primary wishes to thank Pick n Pay School Club for being a valuable partner in the holistic development of our learners. We have been partners in education for the last ten years. Pick n Pay School Club provides the school with valuable educational books and posters which have been great resources. Teachers have found the material to be very useful and educational.
The lessons and activities are grade-aligned and theme-specific. The lessons and activities as well as the posters are in line with the CAPS curriculum. It has helped teachers with making their task of planning easier and less daunting. Both the books and posters are well printed and cater for the level of the learners in different grades. The posters are very colourful and have really supported our teaching.
The hero awards certificates and badges have been most inspiring to our learners as they feel appreciated and encouraged to always do good when they are awarded with the badge and certificates. These awards are handed out to learners that do exceptionally good deeds and have inspired many other learners to follow suit. We used these badges and certificates as positive incentives. We haven’t had many discipline challenges as we use these awards to encourage and inspire learners to always do good. In fact, it has coincided exceptionally well with the Western Cape Education Department’s vision of instilling values in our learners. Our learners feel very motivated when they see big corporate companies like Pick n Pay involved in the teaching.
The programmes and competitions offered by Pick n Pay School Club are valuable opportunities for learners to express themselves and be creative beyond the academic environment. The liaising personnel have always been very professional and friendly. It’s always a pleasure working with them.
Caradale Primary is very thankful for being part of Pick n Pay School Club and is looking forward to another 10 years of partnership with Pick n Pay and partners, achieving the same goal in ensuring our young learners become responsible citizens through education.

As an educator, I was involved with Pick n Pay School Club since the time Pick n Pay hosted the SpellCheck competition, which is now roughly more than 10 years. Pick n Pay School Club has always provided schools with wonderful initiatives such as healthy living, promoting well-being of children, encouraging and inspiring education through various competitions etc.
For the educator, collaborations such as these are valuable as they assist in developing a holistic learner. Without organisations such as Pick n Pay and the other partners on the School Club platform, schools are unable to incorporate valuable life skills due to limited resources, especially for underprivileged schools. Pick n Pay School Club assists in this regard and it surely is really valuable.
I have, since 2018, changed positions and schools and have enlisted my new school to be part of the Club. The teachers are in awe of the wonderful collaboration opportunity.
I wish to thank Pick n Pay and the other partners for the exceptional contribution; it is surely going a long way to strengthening education and in so doing uplift struggling communities.
I would also like to mention a special thanks for our School Liaison Officer, Shervaun Hickley who goes over and beyond his role, he keeps us constantly updated with all upcoming events and makes sure that schools stay informed with regards to Club’s initiatives.
Thank you Pick n Pay School Club. Education is the main tool in assisting people to uplift themselves from dire circumstances, and the Pick n Pay School Club is playing a huge role in education and development.
